AUKUS is the wrong plan for an island nation. Submarines don't open our sea lanes — they close them, so they can't bring food, fuel or supplies in under blockade. We make little of what we'd need to hold out.
Castle Defence — an island built to outlast a siege: food, fuel and industry produced and stored within, and the walls built by an expanded engineer corps. Sea lanes kept open through trade and friendship with our neighbours, not submarines. AUKUS spending redirected into that self-reliance.
Australia imports most of its fuel and holds only about 23 days in reserve — against a 90-day standard not met since 2012 — and power prices are among the developed world's highest. In a blockade, energy is the first thing to fail.

Bringing prices down — a top priority. Supermarket competition enforced, fiscal controls used to hold prices in check, and the broader plan for lower electricity and transport costs.
Australia digs up raw materials and buys back the finished goods — sending jobs and value offshore — while AI and automation now threaten many of the jobs that remain.
Jobs from the New Deal — nation-building work to offset the jobs AI displaces. Small business backed (no income tax in years 1–3, BAS gone under $2M), AI integrated across business to lift productivity, and manufacturing built here through the Sovereign Build.

The tax code runs to thousands of pages and grows every year, while bracket creep quietly raises real tax without a vote — the $18,200 tax-free threshold hasn't moved since 2012.
A radically simpler tax system — a plain tax code you could read in about ten pages, with bracket creep ended. Deeper income-tax relief (a $50,000 threshold and a flat rate) is the longer-term aim, funded by the resource-extraction levy once agreed with the states.
Australia's $3.5 trillion in super increasingly flows offshore, while Australian nation-building projects struggle to secure long-term capital.
Sovereign infrastructure bonds — a stable, long-term vehicle for super to fund Australian projects (corridors, water, power, housing) and put Australian assets back into Australian ownership, keeping retirement savings working here, not overseas.
The family home is most Australians' main store of wealth, yet ownership is falling, rents rise faster than incomes, and the country isn't building enough homes.

The department mandated to investigate what's driving rising chronic disease and cancer: environmental exposures, food and farm-growing methods, and chemical inputs, following the evidence. Care still there: bulk-billing, $0 GP visits, and mental-health support.
Family and community are the core of any nation, yet both are fraying — and across the country, in every community, too many people have lost hope.
Strengthen family and community — for every Australian. One people, one struggle: the strain runs through the whole country, so there's no dividing it up. A People department to repair the damage, rebuild community, and give people their hope back.
Immigration numbers are set with little real-time public visibility, and enforcement is split across agencies.
